What type of sports-related organization will benefit the most with our volume photography services?
We offer easy decisions for nonprofit organization board of directors and for athletic company management. Examples include: Little League baseball and softball, Pop Warner Pee-Wee football and other youth football and cheerleader leagues, select baseball and softball teams, club volleyball, Babe Ruth baseball, and dance company recitals.
What are team and individual pictures?
This is the photo industry’s term for group photos when combined with speedy portraits of the team members.
Usually tied to a sports league’s opening day, or picture / media day, it’s when the group’s members can take a break for a team or group picture, followed by individual portraits. Certain groups may have a specific pose needed to match modern with historical portraits of organizational presidents, etc.
Our team and group photos have filled team sponsor plaques, school districts’ fall sports programs in the region, and have even graced UIL state tournament programs.
How long does it take for team and individual pictures?
The speed at which your group or organization gets done is ultimately dependent upon the possibly hundreds of people to be photographed. But that is a very vague answer, isn’t it? A good standard is one to two minutes per individual, but in most cases it will be much faster. However, any estimate can be thrown off with all the many variables to be considered, such as:
- Age, experience, and attitude of the individual participants. A Kindergartner usually takes slightly longer to pose than a high school athlete for a step-and-repeat portrait. These variables all add up when brought to scale. An additional 30 seconds per person times a 200-player league works out to an extra 1 hour, 40 minutes.
- Type and quality level of images: Our “Varsity,” “Starter, and “Pro” tiers, or “Company,” “Executive,” and “Cinematic” Portraits for businesses and non-sports organizations, each have progressive levels of portraiture involving different lighting, atmospherics, and in-camera techniques.
- With sports, does the sport require props? (e.g. Baseball and softball often need a bat for posing. Track and field participants may need a baton, or other accessory to “tell their story” in the portrait.)
- Group photos are all affected by these and more variables. The larger the group, the longer it will take to get everyone into position. Team and group photos need to be done at the beginning or end of each team’s session. At Ronin Visuals, we prefer to handle group photos and transition to the team’s individual participants — allowing players to reunite with families and move on with their day faster.
What is our turn-around time?
Everyone wants their pictures fast! We’ve noticed an industry average of 4-6 weeks for printed products (need photos for sports programs and “ad books”? Read below.). While we aim to get your league’s photos back faster, your families are our ultimate customer and we offer a wide variety of products, some requiring more production time than other products. These more niche product lines include photo blankets and customized products such as miniature baseball bats with your player’s photo printed on it.
One of the biggest things that slow down final delivery to your league are checks! While we accept checks as a form of payment, we prefer cash and any major credit cards for speed’s sake. While usually faster now, we don’t control the banks and checks can still take weeks to clear. Moving forward, we are implementing a QR code with our order forms.
